One of the older American regions, New England is rich in history and has a culture shaped by waves of European immigration.

Of these institutes, 90 are public and 175 are private; 202 are four year institutes, while 63 are two year colleges. Just under half of New England’s postsecondary institutions are located in the state of Massachusetts. New England also offers a wide range of diploma and certificate programs at numerous career and technical colleges across the region.
