Colleges and Universities The US Department of Education recognizes 6 distinct educational regions, each of which is overseen by a different accrediting body. The Southern Region covers the 11 southern states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven (UNH) has been offering degrees in engineering since 1920. The College offers four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in the following disciplines: chemical; civil; computer; electrical; mechanical engineering; systems; computer science, chemistry and information technology. A Bachelor of General Engineering degree, is also offered, which blends elements from each concentration to provide students with a broad general knowledge base.
