  • Within the College of Liberal Arts, the Center for Mexican American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin partners with KUT Radio to produce Latino USA, the premier English-language public radio newsmagazine covering Latino news and culture.


  • Liberal arts institution St Lawrence University boasts Viggo Mortensen among its distinguished alumni: he graduated in 1980 with a degree in government.


  • Williams College, a liberal arts institution chartered in 1793, is home to a number of "firsts": the first college catalog was published at Williams in 1795; Williams was the first American college or university to sponsor a scientific expedition, in 1835; the Hopkins Observatory, dating from 1838, is the oldest astronomical observatory in the US; and the first students in America to wear caps and gowns at graduation were Williams Class of 1887.

    The Tagliatela College of Engineering at the University of New Haven (UNH) has been offering degrees in engineering since 1920. The College offers four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in the following disciplines: chemical; civil; computer; electrical; mechanical engineering; systems; computer science, chemistry and information technology. A Bachelor of General Engineering degree, is also offered, which blends elements from each concentration to provide students with a broad general knowledge base.
