Women's Colleges and Universities
    Women's Colleges and Universities

Different people learn and thrive in different kinds of environments. Therefore there are many higher education options in the United States, and one of these options is women's college. The development of women's colleges in the US goes back to the early 1800's, and while their numbers declined after many institutions went co-ed in the 1970's, the more than 50 women's colleges still around continue to offer excellent opportunities for postsecondary study.

Women's universities and colleges may be public or private, independent or church-related, four- or two-year. While they offer many of the same programs as co-ed universities and colleges, they also offer distinctive women-centered pedagogies, curricula, and environments that are focused on helping students achieve their personal and professional development goals. For many students, these schools also provide environments to pursue-and excel in-subject and career areas in which women are traditionally underrepresented, such as science, law, math, computer science and engineering. Many women's colleges offer cross registration with neighboring co-ed colleges and universities, so attending a women's college doesn't mean giving up on a co-ed social life!

If you are looking for an educational institution that really is all about you and helping you succeed, then consider one of the women's colleges in the USA!
