Ed Nino is in the combined BSN/MSN program at UCLA. "I worked as an RN for 1.5 years before I decided to do an advanced degree. There are a lot of nurses in my family. I feel that I can contribute more if I continue my education. I'm really happy to be in the program at UCLA. From the people who work in the office to the administration, they want to make sure that you have everything you need in order to do well in the program."

"I want to be a family nurse practitioner - when I finish my degree I will have to take a comprehensive exam from the school, it's like a thesis. Nurse practitioners see patients, work in clinics, do diagnosis. It appeals to me because you work with many different people. I don't want to specialize in one type of person or one age-level."

"How much time that you spend on homework depends on the classes that you are taking. I spend most of my waking hours on schoolwork - I don't absorb everything quickly, I have to study - I work really hard to get good grades. I'm still working as a nurse as well, but only once or twice a week."
