Coaches & Scouts

Coaches organize and teach amateur and professional athletes in the fundamentals of individual and team sports. By holding practice sessions to perform drills and improve the athlete's skills and stamina coaches ready athletes for competition . Coaches instruct the athlete on proper form and technique to maximize the players' physical potential. Along with refining the athletes individual skills, coaches also are responsible for managing the team, instilling good sportsmanship, a competitive spirit, and teamwork.

Coaches direct team strategy and may call specific plays during competition to surprise or overpower the opponent. To choose the best plays, coaches evaluates the opposing team prior to the competition, allowing them to determine game strategies and practice specific plays. The coach can do this himself or in professional sports, rely on his scouts

Coaches manage the team during a game to optimize its chance for victory. Motivating athletes to play hard challenges most coaches but is vital for the athlete's success.

Athletic Scouts
How would you like to travel around the world and get paid to watch athletes perform? High school football, semi-pro football, university and college football, impromptu football games in the backyard . . .What about hockey or baseball.

Scouts work for schools, agencies, teams, or associations. They travel the world looking for the next great athletic star, but their job isn't all fun and games. They do watch a lot of sports and meet a lot of players, but scouting is serious business.

Scouts are responsible for finding amateur athletes who could go professional, attend a certain school, or search for pro players who may switch teams. They keep lists of potential stars, they watch players who are already stars, they monitor playing fields, TV screens, and press conferences all year long. Once they think they have found an appropriate player, they share this information with their clients, who hire a player on a scout's recommendation. Good scouts know where to find the best players, the ones who are technically skilled and emotionally motivated, the ones who consistently play excellent football.

Scouting is a major responsibility. There are thousands of Americans who dream of playing professional sports. Many of them are scouted each year, but scouts can only pick a few of the players they see to pass on to their clients. Scouts need to be kind, patient, and honest with each potential athleticl star, and encourage and support all players, even the ones they know won't make it. Because while scouts are responsible for creating competitive teams, they are also dedicated sports lovers who support the integrity of good sportsmanship. They know that while only a few players are ever selected, it is all those other players with dreams and passion who really keep the sport alive.
