Program Overview
|
The Center for Distance and Professional Education (CDPE), through its Distance Degree Programs (DDP) unit, brings the best of Washington State University directly to students, in a convenient online format that lets students pursue a world-class education from wherever they have internet access. DDP offers nine undergraduate degree completion programs to students around the globe. CDPE also offers undergraduate certificates in professional writing, early childhood care and development, organic agriculture, and several professional development certificates.
Distance Degree Programs offers the following online Bachelor of Arts degrees:
business administration - entrepreneurship, business administration - international business, business administration - management and operations, business administration - management information systems, criminal justice, human development, humanities, social sciences and women's studies.
Additionally, the WSU School of Nursing offers an online RN to BSN, and the College of Education offers distance courses that lead to teaching endorsements in special education and English as a second language, as well as the State of Washington professional certification program.
Admission
To be admitted into one of the undergraduate degree completion programs, students must have a minimum of 27 transferable semester credits (40 quarter hours) with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Students with a 2.0 to 2.49 GPA may be eligible. Students who would like to take DDP courses for personal enrichment, or to transfer to another institution (but not earn a WSU degree) do not have to meet the minimum GPA or credit requirements, and do pay a reduced application fee.
Courses
Courses are designed and developed by WSU faculty in conjunction with CDPE's instructional designers. WSU online courses have the same learning objectives and standards as WSU campus courses. All courses follow the WSU academic calendar.
Financial Aid
Students taking courses through DDP are recognized as having the same needs as on-campus students and are therefore eligible for the same financial assistance. To receive financial aid, students must be admitted as a degree-seeking student who is enrolled at least half-time at WSU. Half-time enrollment is six credits for undergraduate courses and five credits for graduate and professional students.
