Program Overview
|
The Office of Distance and Continuing Education (DCE) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) offers programs in a variety of traditional and non-traditional ways, including distance-based education. Students can take programs in a number of areas, and at a number of levels, from various university units and contracting agencies.
Degree credit classes are available in a variety of formats--online, correspondence, on campus, off campus, and interactive video. Admission to the institution, either as degree seeking or "non-degree seeking" student status, is required of all who wish to take degree credit courses.
Once admitted to the University, students may take a variety of classes at a number of levels. Programs numbered 499 and under are considered undergraduate, 500-599 are post-baccalaureate professional courses, and 601-799 are graduate level. The NDSU 600 class number is reserved for professional development classes at the graduate level. Professional development opportunities do not require students to undergo the admissions process.
DCE also offers a number of non-credit activities which are open to the general public and are often designed for companies or work groups. For noncredit activities, Continuing Education also serves as registrar of its courses and may issue transcripts certifying completion of the activities.
