Program Overview  
Kansas State University's (K-State's) Division of Continuing Education offers master's, bachelor's completion, and graduate/undergraduate certificate programs and endorsements through a combination of multimedia, distance, web, and guided study technologies.
    Students may select between 17 master's degrees, including six Master of Engineering (MEng) degrees, eight bachelor's degrees, and 16 certificate or endorsement programs. Distance courses follow the semester schedule and are taught by the same faculty who instruct on-campus courses. K-State is an accredited institution of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Master's Degrees
K-State offers the following master's degrees through distance education: Academic Advising (starting in Spring 2008); Agribusiness; Community Development; Dietetics; Educational Computing, Design, and Online Learning/Classroom Technology; Educational Leadership, Emphasis in Educational Administration; Educational Leadership, Emphasis in Adult and Continuing Education; Food Science and Industry; Gerontology; Industrial/Organizational Psychology; Personal Financial Planning; and Youth Development.
    Master's degrees in Gerontology, Personal Financial Planning, Youth Development, Community Development, and Merchandising are offered in collaboration with the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GP-IDEA). K-State also offers six engineering master's degrees in the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering.

Bachelor's Degrees
K-State offers bachelor's degrees in the following disciplines: Animal Sciences and Industry, Animal Products Option; Dietetics; Early Childhood Education; Elementary Education (Southwest Kansas only); Food Science and Industry, Food Business and Operations Management Option; Food Science and Industry, Science Option; General Business; Interdisciplinary Social Science; and Technology Management (Salina Campus). Kansas State University also offers bachelor's degree completion programs designed for students who wish to complete their undergraduate studies and who have already completed at least 60 credit hours of college coursework. The following disciplines are available through K-State's bachelor's degree completion program: Animal Sciences and Industry, Food Science and Industry, General Business, and Interdisciplinary Social Science. Degrees may be completed in two to six years.

Certificate and Endorsement Programs
Students may obtain graduate or undergraduate certificates as well as endorsements through K-State Distance Education in the following areas: Academic Advising Graduate Certificate; Applied Statistics Graduate Certificate; Business Administration Graduate Certificate; Conflict Resolution Graduate and Undergraduate Certificate; Early Childhood Endorsement; Educational Computing, Design, and Online Learning/Classroom Technology Graduate Certificate; English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement (limited to Kansas teachers); Family Development Credential; Food Safety and Defense Graduate Certificate; Food Science Graduate and Non-Degree Undergraduate Certificate; Gerontology Graduate Certificate; Occupational Health Psychology Graduate Certificate; Organizational Leadership Graduate Certificate; Personal Financial Planning Graduate Certificate; Public Administration Graduate Certificate; and Youth Development Graduate Certificate.

Admission Procedures
Master's applicants should have a relevant undergraduate degree, coursework, or work experience and must be computer literate. Most programs require GRE scores in lieu of appropriate degrees or minimum GPA requirements. All MEng programs require a GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of coursework. International applicants may be required to submit TOEFL scores.
    Students should consult K-State directly for full details on admission requirements and procedures. Master's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and certificate programs offer rolling admission.

University Overview  
K-State was established in 1863 as a land-grant institution on the former ground of Bluemont Central College, which was chartered in 1858. The university moved to its present location in 1875. K-State's Manhattan campus features 664 acres in the rolling Flint Hills of northeast Kansas, 125 miles west of Kansas City.
   The K-State network consists of the Manhattan and Salina campuses, four branch locations of the Agricultural Experiment Station (at Hays, Garden City, Colby, and Parsons), and the Konza Prairie Research Natural Area, jointly operated by the Agricultural Experiment Station and the K-State Division of Biology.
   A city of 45,000, Manhattan is home to Kansas State University and the Fort Riley Military Base.

Program Delivery and Student Support  
Many courses offered through the Division of Continuing Education require the use of a computer and access to the Internet. K-State offers a technical support help desk that provides a variety of services for distance education students. Other student services include library services, a facilitation center, virtual commencement and a virtual honorary society.
