Program Overview
A degree from West Virginia University College of Business and Economics is an investment, as students get an excellent education at an affordable price. In fact, America's 100 Best College Buys (2nd ed.) places WVU on its list, and the College's business programs are fully accredited by the AACSB International.

The College (B&E) offers an undergraduate curriculum that emphasizes independent thinking, decision making, managing information and working effectively in a changing workforce. Developed with input from the business community, this curriculum provides a solid foundation in core business principles and the skills needed to compete in the current job market: communications, team work and leadership. Its programs are ranked by U.S News & World Report among the top quartile of AACSB - accredited undergraduate programs in the country.

The College offers two bachelor's degrees: A Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBAd) with majors in accounting, business management, finance, management information systems and marketing; and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Admission to the College occurs just before the junior year. During the freshman and sophomore years, students complete both foundation business courses and a variety of courses required by the University under the General Education Curriculum.

All students earning the BSBAd degree take a 37 credit-hour core business curriculum. Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree must earn 24 credit hours of core coursework designated by that program.

The College considers students to be the central focus of its mission and takes pride in the personal attention B&E students enjoy through an entire staff of professional academic advisors to guide them towards graduation. The advisors have often been awarded the National Honor Society's Golden Apple Award. Personal services for students also include the Center for Career Development where professional staff help students define career goals, prepare for professional careers, arrange interviews with prospective employers, and land choice internships and jobs.

Knowing that the classroom is by no means the only place where students can develop skills that are invaluable in a career, the College offers a variety of co-curricular opportunities and events to enhance professional development. The College hosts more than a dozen student professional organizations with many opportunities to build lifelong friendships, gain leadership skills, and learn about career opportunities. Students can attend numerous distinguished guest lectures throughout the year, participate in professional development seminars, compete in the annual business plan competition offered by the Entrepreneurship Center, choose to study business or economics in a foreign culture, or arrange for practical experience in an internship. The College offers study abroad opportunities in China, Czech Republic, Italy and Poland.

Buildings and Facilities
The College offers students modern classrooms, software, and computer labs for use in their studies. B&E students have priority access to standard and specialized business software, email and Internet services through two fully equipped computer labs. All classrooms are equiped with advanced teaching technology and a wireless network that provides Internet access throughout the B&E building. The building also houses two multi-media classrooms, two large lecture halls and three distance learning centers.
