Program Overview
|
By using business resources found throughout the regional, national and international communities, Drexel University's LeBow College of Business provides students with a comprehensive business education combined with professional, practical experience through the Drexel Co-op.
LeBow College of Business offers a bachelor of science in economics (BS Econ), bachelor of science in business administration (BSBA) and bachelor of science in business and engineering (BSB&E). The BSBA and BSB&E curricula were both revised during the 2005–2006 academic year to meet market demands in an ever–changing economy. Over four or five years of study, students prepare for their roles in an increasingly international, high-technology environment. Through Drexel's renowned co-op
program, students make important industry contacts, develop valuable job-finding skills and gain the experience necessary to qualify for more than entry-level positions. This program is offered through a comprehensive five-year option that includes 18 months of professional work experience or a four-year option that includes six months of professional work experience. In addition, a four-year, non-co-op option is available.
Business and engineering is a unique degree that combines study in business and in the engineering sciences. Students gain business acumen and learn basic engineering skills, preparing them for jobs as managers working for engineering, pharmaceutical or technologically oriented companies. The program has been in existence for more than 75 years, and there are few, if any, similar programs elsewhere.
An accelerated program permits students to earn both BS and MBA degrees in only five years. The program includes one six-month co-op internship, with the fifth year devoted to four terms of graduate study.
My LIFEfolio (LeBow Integrated Focused Experience) is a web-based portfolio designed to be an essential resource throughout students' academic and professional careers. Beginning in freshman year, My LIFEfolio enables the connection of introductory course material to upper level classes building integrated academic experience as students progress through the LeBow curriculum. The four electronic portfolios that comprise My LIFEfolio - business concentration, career, writing, and quantitative reasoning - allow the storage of information, reflect on learning, and understand how that knowledge has impacted beliefs, attitudes, and personal development. My LIFEfolio showcases the breadth and depth of student knowledge and provides evidence of personal and professional accomplishments. Students have access to files of both business and non-business courses, completed assignments, multi-media projects, and instructional resources such as teaching notes and presentations for reference while in school, on the Drexel Co-op, or after graduation.

Buildings and Facilities
|
LeBow College of Business is housed in three buildings: Matheson Hall, the Academic Building and the Pearlstein Business Learning Center. A full-time undergraduate advising and career services center is available to all business students. In addition, several fully equipped modern computer labs, housing both Macintosh and IBM computers, provide access to the latest business software.
The college enhances its finance-oriented courses by allowing students to develop expertise in capital markets, trading and risk management through the use of financial software that allows simulated stock trading, applied risk management and portfolio diversification. The Finance Trading Lab allows LeBow students to play the market in "real time, with real money". Students learn how to manage a portfolio, select securities, diversify the asset side of the portfolio and read, analyze and comprehend financial data.
The Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology provides an innovative approach to entrepreneurial
development by linking academic instruction, real-world resources and a physical environment for accelerated business creation. The Center includes incubation and entrepreneurial space, a cybercafe, mentoring and conference rooms as
well as a 60-person classroom.
Drexel's W.W. Hagerty Library has a collection of 1.3 million books, periodicals, microforms, government documents and audiovisual materials, with a focus on the fields of business, technology, science, design and information studies. Students can use the library's electronic network to access other library collections in Philadelphia and around the world.
