Program Overview
The Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University (KSU) offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in seven programs of study: accounting, economics and quantitative analysis, finance, international business, management, marketing and professional sales. In addition, the College offers upper-division courses in legal studies, business information systems, entrepreneurship and family business, insurance, quality, real estate and strategy.
These programs address the ever-changing needs of the community and the corporate world, adapting to new ideas and incorporating current technology when necessary. The college has an innovative approach to education that creates a diverse educational experience for both students and faculty. For example, students have the opportunity to meet and interact with nationally and internationally renowned corporate leaders through the Tetley Distinguished Leader Lecture Series. Every year, the program brings five or six chief executive officers to the campus for a casual forum of lecture and discussion.
The Coles College has increased its investment in technology and online learning. Beginning in Spring, 2008, students will be able to take online all the business courses needed for a BBA in management. The courses in the online BBA deliver the same content, conform to the same learning standards, and are taught by the same faculty as the in-class courses. They combine excellent quality with the convenience of online learning.
Community alliances are maintained with the Wachovia Professorship of Family Business, which selects a highly qualified faculty member to advise local family-owned enterprises. In addition, the college provides family-business seminars, small-business workshops and economic-education programs.
Each year the Coles College hosts the National Collegiate Sales Competition. This competition allows the country's top sales students to compete to demonstrate their selling skills. Corporate sponsors and other sales professionals participate in the event as judges, and use the opportunity to recruit students for future positions.
Ample internship and cooperative education opportunities are available to business students, which provide work experiences related to their majors.
As of June 2005, all students applying for admission into the Professional Program at the Coles College of Business are charged a non-refundable $100 fee.

Buildings and Facilities
Business classes are taught in the Burruss Building, a four-story facility that houses 40 classrooms, instructional computer facilities, tiered lecture rooms, an auditorium, a sandwich shop, and more than 140 offices.
Located within the Burruss Building is the Business Undergraduate Advising Center. Instead of assigning individual academic advisers, students plan their studies according to BBA requirements and receive advising materials under the guidance of the Advising Team. Students can meet individually with any member of the Team for academic guidance.

University and Location
Kennesaw State University is the third largest university of the 23 public universities and colleges in the University System of Georgia. The coalition of schools enhances students' academic opportunities and promotes academic ventures through the sharing of resources.
The university offers more than 55 undergraduate and 20 graduate programs in seven colleges: the College of the Arts; Michael J. Coles College of Business; Bagwell College of Education; WellStar College of Health and Human Services; College of Humanities & Social Sciences, College of Science & Mathematics, and University College. Students' education and campus experience is further enriched through KSU's cultural arts programs, which include performances by the Cobb Symphony and the Atlanta Chamber Players, both on campus at KSU.
The Horace Sturgis Library is among the finest in the US, with a network of computers providing access to a variety of databases. In addition, there are 600,000 volumes of books and government documents, 3,300 serial publications and well over 1.5 million items on microform held by the library. Through contractual agreements with the Atlanta Regional Consortium for Higher Education and the University System of Georgia, the library also provides access to over 10 million items for research and study purposes.

KSU began offering on-campus housing in the fall of 2002. There are three on-campus apartment communities: University Village, University Place and KSU Place. The second phase of University Village is currently under construction and expected to open in the fall of 2008. For more information visit www.kennesaw.edu/housing or call the Department of Residence Life at 1-770-420-4388.
KSU is located on a 240-acre campus in the city of Kennesaw, Georgia. Statuesque oak and pine trees, and beds of colorful flowers characterize KSU’s natural setting. In the last decade, KSU has seen tremendous growth in its facilities. Some of the newest include the social sciences building and the 4,800-seat Convocation Center, the largest venue of its kind in northwest Georgia. The city is part of the larger Metropolitan Atlanta area, which boasts a population of over 5 million people and offers all the advantages of a major city.

Admissions
Admission is a selective process. Meeting the application deadline or minimum standards does not guarantee acceptance. All applicants must submit: a completed undergraduate application form; $40 nonrefundable application fee; official scores on all required college entrance tests, typically the SAT or ACT; official high school and college transcripts mailed directly from the institution(s) to the Office of University Admissions; and a valid certificate of immunization, covering measles, mumps and rubella. Applicants may be required to appear for a personal interview and/or take a standardized achievement, assessment, placement or psychological test.
Domestic first-year applicants should have completed a college preparatory curriculum with a total of 16 units, with specified amounts in each of the following areas: English, mathematics, science, social science and a foreign language.
In addition to KSU admission, students who want to major in a business area must apply for and be admitted to the Coles College Professional Program in order to take upper-division business courses. This application process does not take place until after a student has been admitted to KSU, and has arrived on campus and completed the necessary courses and activities. The primary requirement for admission to Coles is completion of the Sophomore GPA requirement. This requirement involves completion of at least 50 hours and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the following eight courses: ACCT 2100, ACCT 2200, ECON 2100, ECON 2200, ECON 2300, BLAW 2200, BISM 2100 and MATH 1106. If some of these are completed at another school, the grades earned will still be included in this GPA calculation. In addition to this GPA requirement, students must visit with an advisor, register with KSU Career Services, pay a fee of $100, and submit an application form.
International applicants must provide a sworn affidavit of support from their financial sponsor, including a letter from the sponsor's bank showing that funds (in US dollars) are available to meet the applicant's education and living expenses. In addition, applicants must provide proof of English proficiency through a minimum Internet based TOEFL score of 75. All official academic transcripts or certified true copies must be accompanied by certified English translations, if applicable. International applicants are required to have an official evaluation of credentials completed by an outside agency at the student's expense.

Support for International Students
International students should visit the Office of International Student Retention Services soon after registration. The office helps international students with academic and personal concerns and directs them to other services.
The International Student Handbook is a comprehensive guide with information about the services offered by KSU and in the surrounding area.
The International Student Association promotes cultural awareness throughout the campus and is open to all students. The International Athletics Committee works with foreign athletes and the Athletics Department to ensure that both parties understand the terms of athletic scholarships or agreements awarded to athletes. The International Student Locator can be used to connect students from the same country.
