Program Overview
The University of Detroit Mercy's (UDM) College of Business Administration offers degree programs in business and related disciplines. These programs include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting (BSBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA). All business programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) and classes are available during the day, in the evening or on the weekend.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting
The College's accounting program equips students with the accounting skills and analytical tools necessary for the rapidly changing economic environment. To complete the degree, accounting students must complete a minimum of 126 semester hours of required liberal arts, business and accounting courses.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
The business administration program develops a foundation in a variety of areas. Students strengthen their communication, mathematical and computer literacy skills while studying traditional business courses. The program offers a number of concentrations including finance, international business, management and marketing.

Business administration students must complete a minimum of 126 semester hours of required liberal arts, business and other courses.

Combined BSBA/MBA Option
The College of Business Administration will admit qualified students into a 5-year program leading to completion of both a BSBA degree as well as an MBA degree.

To be admitted, applicants must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.25 and a minimum ACT Composite Score of 24. Once admitted, students must maintain at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average at UDM to remain in the program.

Students admitted to this program will complete the BSBA in 4 years of study and complete the MBA degree by the end of the fifth year. No GMAT will be required of these students for admission to the MBA.

In addition to satisfying all curriculum requirements for both degrees, students in the 5-year program must complete a minimum of two full-time co-op assignments (i.e. internships). One of these internships must occur between the fourth year and fifth year of study.

Buildings and Facilities
UDM has 42 buildings across three campuses. Over 65 fraternities, sororities, honor societies, pre-professional clubs, international and ethnic associations operate on campus.

The University supports the only NCAA Division I program in Detroit and offers 19 varsity sports. University and Location
The University of Detroit Mercy is Michigan's oldest and largest Catholic university. The University of Detroit (founded in 1877) and Mercy College of Detroit (founded in 1941) consolidated in 1990 to form the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM).

UDM has a student population of approximately 5,700 students, with an average age of 27. Eighty-nine percent of the approximately 300 full-time faculty members hold doctorate degrees or the highest degrees available in their fields. Classes are held on three campuses, located downtown and in residential northwest Detroit.

Many top businesses and institutions are headquartered in Detroit and offer UDM's students co-op and internship opportunities. The city provides numerous cultural and entertainment opportunities–from movies, to concerts, exhibits and professional sports.

Admissions
Admission to the University of Detroit Mercy is selective. Students are evaluated individually based on their academic performance, activities and interests, ACT or SAT test results and educational goals. All applicants must be graduates from an accredited high school or its equivalent and have a "B" average or better with a competitive score on the ACT or SAT.

International students should demonstrate consistent academic performance with a minimum grade point average of three on a four point scale and send official transcripts of all completed academic work. If a record is not in English, a certified English translation must accompany the original document. Applicants must also provide proof of their ability to pay for their program, as well as proof of their English language proficiency. International students can either take the University's English language test or submit a minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based test or 250 on the computer-based test, as well as a writing score of five on the essay. Students who score low on the University's English language test must enroll in the University's American Language and Culture program.

Support for International Students
The University of Detroit Mercy welcomes approximately 400 new and returning international students from more than 40 different countries each year. Located in the industrial heartland of the United States, UDM offers a range of educational programs and extensive opportunities for employment including a cooperative education program for both domestic and international students.

The University administers its own English language proficiency test for international students and does not require students to take the TOEFL. Students are provided English instruction in intermediate and advanced English as well as English as a Second Language classes.
