Program Overview
|
The University of Oregon (UO) offers a Master of Science degree in Applied Information Management (AIM) through distance and online education.
The AIM master's degree is focused on management and aimed at mid-level professionals who work in positions that require knowledge of the management of information, people, technologies, and resources. Students complete the degree part-time over approximately two and a half to three years.
The program is multidisciplinary. Students take classes in a range of areas, including data management, project management, information design and communication, business ethics, data mining, and viral marketing.
Instead of a thesis, students complete a capstone research paper, relative to a research topic of their choice.
To be accepted to the program, students must fulfill the following criteria:
• An accredited bachelor's degree in any field
• Currently work in a position related to one of the four academic areas in the AIM curriculum (Information Management, Information Design, Business Management, or Applied Research). This may include: database administrator, planner, programmer/analyst, project director, educator, multimedia services supervisor, information technology specialist, or desktop support analyst, to name a few.
• At least five years of work experience involved in the structuring, processing or delivery of information.
