Program Overview
|
Students can be part of a challenging and rewarding career field when they enrol in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program at the University of Central Missouri's (UCM) Harmon College of Business. All first-year students and transfer students interested in business majors are admitted to the UCM as pre-business majors.
All first-year students are encouraged to participate in the First-Year Experience (FYE) program which includes academic advising, business learning communities (a series of clustered courses which pre-business students take together) and a first-year seminar. The Business Pre-Profession program and Business FYE program are designed for new students to get off to a good start academically as well as expose them to the admissions requirements and academic programs offered at the college.
Once admitted to the program, students can major in accounting, finance, marketing, management or computer information systems. In addition, during their time at the Harmon College of Business, they will have access to internships, real-world entrepreneurial business experience, job shadowing and international study. Business graduates leave UCM ready to contribute to the workforce with practical business skills and academic expertise.

UCM prides itself in transforming students into lifelong learners, who are dedicated to service and possess the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed and lead in the region, state, nation and world. The university offers a comprehensive array of bachelor's programs and selected master's and doctoral programs that build upon historical strengths and a state-wide mission to contribute positively to community.
UCM's sprawling campus located in the heart of downtown Warrensburg, Missouri, is home to many centres and institutes that contribute to student development and community learning. Some of these culture-rich initiatives include the Center for Religious Studies, the National Police Institute and the Missouri Safety Center.
The Harmon College of Business Administration also has many resources available to students who are interested in beginning their business careers while still attending classes. The university's Center for Business Internships, Center for Economic Education, Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies & Development, and Small Business Technology & Development Center serve the needs of students, entrepreneurs, small business owners, economics teachers and citizens of the State of Missouri. These centers also serve to bridge the gap between academic study and business practice.

CBI matches students with companies in the Fortune 500, local businesses, international corporations, and state and federal government posts. Students can also pursue international internships in Mexico, France and the Netherlands. CBI works exclusively with business majors and minors to help them secure the internships that best fit their long-term career goals while still earning college credit and a salary.
UCM's Office of Career Services helps place new graduates into the industry and position of their choice. Graduates have begun successful careers as accountants, finance specialists, entrepreneurs, human resource managers, network specialists, sales managers and supply chain managers. Employers prize Harmon College grads for their superior knowledge, skills and work ethic.
