Program Overview

At Loma Linda University (LLU) the School of Public Health offers an WASC online executive master of public health degree with a choice of two majors, public health practice and health education. The school also offers a certificate in tobacco control methods.
In the Health Education Program, emphasis is placed on educational, interpersonal, community, and legislative factors that promote positive health behaviours. The curriculum emphasizes interventions based on scientific data and established behavioural and learning theories that promote public health through the processes of education and community organization. This is a blended program with online courses as well as on-campus courses.
The public health practice major provides practicing professionals with skills and knowledge in public health that will augment their current careers. Course work for the Public Health Practice Program may be pursued in a traditional on-campus program as well as an online format,
The tobacco-control methods program was developed to train health professionals in tobacco research and control methods, integrating theory and field-based experience. This is the only graduate-level certificate of its kind in the field of tobacco control offered in the U.S. This certificate is for practicing professionals who want to add to their skills and knowledge and be better equipped to work in the area of tobacco control as practitioners and researchers in tobacco-use prevention and treatment.
